Hyundai Sonata Hybrid tops segment in Autopacific vehicle satisfaction awards

COSTA MESA, Calif., May 24, 2012 – The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid topped the Hybrid Car/EV category in the 2012 AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Awards (VSA). AutoPacific’s VSA survey measures how satisfied an owner is with his/her new car or light truck. This study by the Southern California-based automotive research firm summarizes the results of more than 75,000 surveys completed by owners of new cars and light trucks in the United States in the first quarter of 2012. Additionally, Hyundai finished fifth overall in the Popular Brand rankings.

“Owners have made the Sonata a star in AutoPacific’s Vehicle Satisfaction Awards. In fact, when the all-new Sonata first launched in 2010, owners gave it the highest Vehicle Satisfaction Score we have ever recorded,” notes Daniel Hall, Vice President of AutoPacific. “The Sonata Hybrid appears to be carrying on the tradition.”

The 2012 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards are based on scores developed using results from AutoPacific’s national New Vehicle Satisfaction Survey. Respondents to this survey are owners of new 2012 model year cars and trucks purchased from September through December 2011. Respondents rate 48 attributes for importance in the purchase decision and satisfaction after purchase.

“Having our models recognized in AutoPacific’s 2012 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards is a testament to the hard work and dedication that goes into all the vehicles in the Hyundai lineup,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “At Hyundai, we strive to exceed customer expectations in safety, quality, value and performance, and look forward to continuing to develop more award winning vehicles as we bring the 2013 Santa Fe to market this year.”

The Sonata Hybrid features Hyundai’s Hybrid Blue Drive system with a powertrain entirely developed in-house. The Sonata Hybrid can be driven in zero emissions, fully electric drive mode at speeds up to 72 miles per hour or in blended gas-electric mode at any speed. The Hybrid Sonata also features a lithium polymer battery pack, making Hyundai the first automaker in the world to incorporate this remarkably efficient battery technology into production vehicles. All Sonata Hybrids are covered by Hyundai’s Lifetime Hybrid Battery Replacement Guarantee. To view the complete 2012 VSA results, visit: http://www.autopacific.com.

Our customers are our number one priority!

"I went in for maintenance on my Hyundai Tiburon and had been very curios on the new 2012 Veloster, so after mentioning that to the service department they got me out and introduced me to Mason Spain and he then helped me and eventually got me into a brand new 2012 Veloster. Mason was outstanding & not pushy, made the car buying sales experience very comfortable. As did, the entire Norman Automax team! I even referred my best friend to them, he then in turn had his parents go out and look at Hyundai's and on May 14 they even bought a Sonata from Mason & Automax! Great job, I had to share the outstanding experience I had, and I HIGHLY recommend the Veloster, its so much FUN & I get lots of compliments & questions on it!" -Tglidewelljr

The 2012 Tucson Video Tour - Hyundai Video

Another happy AutoMax customer!

"We all hate buying cars but Automax Norman was/is great. Due to recent Oklahoma weather I was left in search of a new car. Tom Merolla was my car salesman. He was fabulous. It is hard to find a dealer that you would be willing to go back to. I would return to Automax Norman no question." -Pleasantly Surprised Customer

Hyundai Motors America partners with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to raise awareness

COSTA MESA, Calif.,- Hyundai Motor America presented a $25,000 check to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) on Saturday, May 12, 2012 during the opening ceremony of its annual "Walk Like MADD" 5K walk in Huntington Beach, Calif. The walk raised awareness for MADD's mission to stop drinking and driving, support victims and prevent underage drinking. In its ongoing commitment to driver safety, Hyundai was the presenting sponsor of the event for the second consecutive year.

Walk Like MADD, MADD's signature walk, is a fun, community-driven 5K walk that raises funds and saves lives. This year's event drew more than 1,200 participants and included a Hyundai Veloster display, a 1,000 cranes origami project to bring hope to the victims and survivors of drunk driving crashes, a live performance by Redneck Rodeo, and law enforcement support from the California Highway Patrol and the police departments of Santa Ana, Orange, Huntington Beach and Irvine.

"We are honored to have Hyundai Motor America stand beside us as we work to make our roadways and communities safe throughout Orange County," said Mary Beth Griffin, affiliate executive director of MADD Orange County. "The funds raised through Walk Like MADD will go to support our mission and we are very grateful to Hyundai for their support in making the event a success."

Hyundai has partnered with MADD since 2005 when it sponsored a program that educated high school students on the dangers of drinking and driving. Hyundai has since expanded that partnership and is now the presenting partner for "Walk Like MADD." The walking event in Orange County is one of MADD's largest 5K walks.

"Drunk driving is a serious issue and Hyundai is committed to raising awareness about driver safety to help make our communities safer," said Zafar Brooks, director of corporate social responsibility, Hyundai Motor America. "Hyundai strives to be a positive corporate citizen and I am honored to continue our relationship with Mothers Against Drunk Driving in support of their important mission."

Hyundai's participation at the "Walk Like MADD" walk event is part of its larger corporate social responsibility program that runs under the mantra of "doing good things together." Hyundai is committed to being a responsible member of the community and giving back to its neighbors while focusing on youth health and education nationwide.

COSTA MESA, Calif., May 16, 2012 – The all-new Hyundai Azera achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest honor for 2012 as a Top Safety Pick this week. Elantra and Genesis Sedan recognized as "Best Values" by USAA

COSTA MESA, Calif., May 7, 2012 – Financial services provider USAA named both the 2012 Hyundai Elantra and 2012 Hyundai Genesis Sedan as 2012 “Best Value” vehicle picks. USAA rated cars in 16 different categories with a proprietary vehicle rating system using quantitative data that takes factors such as cost, safety, reliability and fuel economy into consideration. Both Hyundai vehicles were recognized for offering the best financial value in their respective segments; the Elantra topped the small sedan category and the Genesis sedan won in the large luxury sedan category.

Elantra also made it onto USAA’s Top 10 for Teens list. The list was compiled from the results of a recent survey that identified the top 10 USAA Preferred vehicles that possess reliability, a high safety rating and affordable auto insurance. Additionally, four Hyundai vehicles were also recognized with the USAA Preferred designation: Sonata (midsize sedan), Accent (small sedan), Genesis Coupe (large luxury sedan), and Santa Fe (midsize SUV).

“The goal of the list is to help members identify vehicles that typically offer better safety ratings, lower insurance premium costs, higher fuel economy, better overall reliability and lower MSRP compared to other vehicles in the same category,” said Steve Thompson, assistant vice president, USAA. “The Elantra and Genesis both rose to the top as vehicles that offer these key elements, making them great buys for the value-minded consumer.”

The 2012 North American Car of the Year Elantra adds an ActiveECO System for 2012 that modifies engine and transmission control to smooth out throttle response and increase real-world fuel economy by up to seven percent. Elantra’s standard fuel economy is 29 mpg city and 40 mpg highway, and is powered by an all-new 1.8-liter Nu four-cylinder engine with 148 horsepower and 131 lb-ft of torque.

Hyundai’s Genesis sedan, the 2009 North American Car of the Year, continues its segment leadership in 2012 with exterior design improvements, new direct injection technology for its Lambda V6 engine, new eight-speed automatic transmissions, and enhanced chassis tuning. In addition, a new 5.0-liter direct injection V8 engine is now available exclusively with the 5.0 R-Spec model, which includes unique 19-inch machined-finish alloy wheels, optional Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position summer performance tires and sport-tuned transmission, suspension and steering calibrations for exhilarating vehicle dynamics.

“The Elantra upholds Hyundai’s commitment to value with emotional design, 40 mpg highway fuel economy and outstanding residual value,” said Scott Margason, director of Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “The Genesis sedan also continues to provide ground-breaking value among its luxury competition with lavish features and impressive driving performance. Both cars continue to exceed expectations for consumers in their respective segments.”

Thank you for the kind words!

"After "many" months, and contacts with numerous dealerships trying to locate my ideal car, I checked with Auto Max. They found my car the same day. All negotiations were made online. When I arrived the papers were ready for me to sign. Nothing could have been easier! My salesman, Steve Griffith, is blessed with patience. He explained the many options, and helped us connect our cellphones with the bluetooth connection. WOW can't believe it was this easy. I LOVE my Red Sonata hybrid. Thanks Auto Max!" -Kastey

We sincerely appreciate our customers' feedback!

"Josh Bunch and Automax went to the max to make sure that I got the car I wanted. They continued to work on my deal when I thought I would look at another dealer. I found out that some dealerships didn't quite tell the truth to try and get my business, but AutoMax and Josh, were always on the up and up. I tell all my friends that if they want a quality car and and a great dealership, go see Josh Bunch at AutoMax. Thanks Josh and AutoMax." -Yamahahauler

We love feedback from our customers!

"My wife was looking for a new car. We stopped by AutoMax Hyundai of Norman one recent Sunday evening and she fell in love with the Hyundai Veloster. We went back on the Friday evening when Norman was being hit by thunderstorms and a tornado. I had sent a request through the Internet and received an immediate follow-up phone call from Sonja Sherwood about when we would like to test drive a car. We told her that we would be in on Friday after work. She said Tim Tae would meet with us and show us whatever vehicle(s) we were interested in. When we had talked for a while, Tim asked if we would like to test drive the Veloster. Victor Ferguson graciously got a bright blue one off the pedestal out front, handed us the keys, and told Tim to let us go for a ride. My wife and drove the vehicle and were amazed at the room, responsiveness, and everything about the vehicle. After the test drive, my wife and I worked a deal with Tim for an Ironman Silver Veloster which was in Tulsa but they said they would get in within 2 days. They called on Saturday to say the vehicle was in and we told them we would be there Monday. When we got there Monday evening, the car was there with a full tank of gas, washed and waxed, and ready to go. The deal was done smoothly with no pressure. Everyone did an excellent job and the finance manager, Michael Day, was first rate. Tim did a superb job of introducing the car to my wife and she felt comfortable driving it home that evening. Every question we have had since buying it has been answered by either Tim or Victor in a professional and caring manner. We would recommend this dealership and especially Tim Tae to anyone considering buying a Hyundai in Norman or in the OKC metro." -jsmecham

Hyundai Azera named 2012 "Best Bet" by Cars.com

COSTA MESA, Calif., April 26, 2012 – The Hyundai Azera was named a 2012 “Best Bet” in the Full Size Sedan category by Cars.com, a leading destination for online car shoppers. Azera joins five other Hyundai models previously selected to Cars.com’s 2012 list: Elantra (Compact Sedan), Sonata (Midsize Sedan), Genesis (Luxury Car), Genesis Coupe (Sports Car), and Tucson (Compact SUV/Crossover).

“The redesigned Hyundai Azera offers a roomy cabin, great value for the price and solid reliability,” said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com Editor in Chief. “This vehicle and the others from Hyundai that we have named a ‘best bet’ are vehicles that any of our editors would drive.”

Cars.com Best Bets must meet four criteria: the car must get average or better fuel economy for its segment, the car must have average or better reliability, the car must get average or better scores in crash tests, and Cars.com’s editors must endorse the car. In years past, Cars.com has rolled out their Best Bets once a year, but moving forward they will be adding new models to the list as they are tested and rated.

“It’s an honor to have Cars.com editors recognize the Azera and five other Hyundai models on their list of vehicles to buy in 2012,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Azera offers industry-leading safety technologies, top-tier quality, terrific design both inside and out, and a host of luxury and convenience features that offer more value to today’s car shopper than our competitors in the large sedan segment.”

New for 2012, Azera features a modern, sleek, sophisticated style, creating the illusion of constant motion. This flagship Fluidic Sculpture sedan also features a more powerful Lambda II 3.3-liter GDI engine, six-speed transmission, best-in-class combined fuel economy of 23 miles per gallon and a wide range of advanced safety equipment.
