Hyundai Hope On Wheels announces 5K run/walk series to benefit pediatric cancer

/PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Hope On Wheels® today announced a 2012 5K Run/Walk Series that will travel to three U.S. cities, in a continued effort to raise awareness and research funds for pediatric cancer. After a successful inaugural 5K event in Orange County last year, Hope On Wheels will return to Southern California to launch its 5K series in Irvine, followed by visits to Chicago and Miami as part of its ongoing efforts around National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September. Net proceeds from the Hyundai Hope On Wheels 5K Run/Walk Series will benefit pediatric cancer research programs at local children's hospitals in each of the three cities.

"As an avid runner myself, I am thrilled to roll out our annual 5K Run/Walk series to support the Hope On Wheels mission of finding a cure for childhood cancer," said John Krafcik, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor America. Race participants of the Hyundai Hope On Wheels 5K Run/Walk Series can become a part of Team Hyundai Hope On Wheels and join the fight against pediatric cancer by registering online and making a pledge to benefit their local hospital. Kicking off Hope On Wheels' efforts during National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Hyundai Hope On Wheels 5K Run/Walk Series will host its first race on Saturday, September 1 at the University of California, Irvine campus at 7:30 a.m. All net proceeds from the event will benefit the Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC Children's Hospital, a leader in innovative pediatric cancer research.

September 9, 2012 – Chicago, IL: Hyundai Hope On Wheels 5K at the Chicago Half Marathon

The Hyundai Hope On Wheels 5K at the Chicago Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, September 9. The Hope On Wheels 5K will start at approximately 7:45 a.m. and will take participants through beautiful Jackson Park. All net proceeds from the event will benefit the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago (formerly Children's Memorial Hospital).

September 29, 2012 – Miami, FL: Hyundai Hope On Wheels 2nd Annual MCH5K

The Hyundai Hope On Wheels 2nd Annual Miami Children's Hospital 5K (MCH5K), presented by TotalBank, will be held in Coral Gables on Saturday, September 29 at 7:30 a.m. The route will start and finish at Coral Gables City Hall and will take participants through the picturesque Granada Golf Course. Individuals and teams are invited to participate and fundraise to support the children and families at Miami Children's Hospital, which will be the recipient of all net proceeds from this race. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraising teams.

"Every 36 minutes a child in the U.S. is diagnosed with cancer. Through research, 80 percent of those cases can be cured, but that's just not good enough," said Gary Micallef, Chairman, Hyundai Hope On Wheels Foundation and dealer-owner of Hyundai of Everett, in Everett, WA. "As a father and grandfather myself, I can think of no better way for Hope On Wheels to further its efforts in the fight against pediatric cancer than by joining together and running for hope.

Way to go, team!

"Out joy-riding on Sunday, our 2012 Hyundai Accent lost power and refused to go over 2000 rpms. The issue corrected itself after the car cooled, but my husband called his favorite mechanic, Michael Smith at AutoMax Hyundai Norman. AutoMax got the car in, quickly diagnosed the issue and had it corrected while my husband waited and chatted with the friendly folks at AutoMax. Thanks AutoMax Hyundai Norman Service Team!" -Michal

See for yourself what all the hype is about!

"From the time we drove on the lot, until the time we signed the final paperwork 3 days later, we were taken care of beyond our expectations. We had originally gone to this dealership because we were on a date night. We had been contemplating trading off our current vehicle and had already done all the necessary research on the Hyundai Sonata. It was definitely the one we wanted. All we needed at this point was a test drive.

San was able to answer all the questions I had with the vehicle and went on the test drive with us. It was nice to have a knowledgeable salesperson that was not pushy or over the top out of control. San turned us over to Tim to actually work the purchase agreement. It made sense, I guess because San was so personable, I would want them back on the lot as well. Knew their stuff.

The car was the SE model, which did not come with the heated seats, but Tim made sure we were able to get those installed as well. It was nice to get the exact thing I wanted even if it did not come from the factory that way.

They neeed a day or so to get the color i wanted. They were more than willing to find the exact car, with the exact options (even if they had to add the heat kit later).

During the delivery, Tim took great care in explaining everything to me to make sure I was comfortable with all the new features of the vehicle. He made sure all the electronics and special things were programmed and ready for when I drove off the lot. He took extra time to show us the Hyundai website and its features (very very cool) and made sure we knew how to log in to it for when we got home that night.

I am overall happy and surprised that they went to such great lengths to get me taken care of. I look forward to getting another Hyundai in the future from them when the need arises." -Milty75

Hyundai Motor America Wins Bronze Cannes Lion for Re:Generation Music Project

Collaboration with Greenlight Media & Marketing and The Recording Academy to Launch Hyundai Veloster Wins Award in Branded Content and Entertainment Category

COSTA MESA, Calif., – June 25, 2012 –Hyundai took home a bronze Cannes Lion award on Saturday, June 23, during the 2012 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France for the RE:GENERATION Music Project, featuring the Hyundai Veloster. The project, conducted in partnership with Greenlight Media & Marketing, The Recording Academy® and Hyundai’s agency of record, Innocean Worldwide Americas, won the inaugural award for best use or integration of music in the Branded Content and Entertainment Category. In its first year, there were 800 submissions for the category and just seven named finalists. The selection committee was comprised of 16 judges from 10 countries.

“We are honored and truly thrilled that the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is recognizing the RE:GENERATION Music Project,” said Steve Shannon, vice president of marketing, Hyundai Motor America. “Hyundai’s intent with this project was to support the creation of original works of art that a youthful, creative audience would appreciate. And with great partners like Greenlight and the Recording Academy, we delivered on that objective in a way that authentically connected Hyundai to the artists.”

Hyundai launched the 2012 Veloster, an innovative three-door coupe including technology that changes the way creative individuals experience driving, with music as a centerpiece. In partnership with The Recording Academy® (internationally known for the GRAMMY Awards®) Hyundai and Greenlight developed a unique concept called the RE:GENERATION Music Project. RE:GENERATION challenged five modern DJs to record an original track in a genre completely new to them. The project resulted in five new electronic music tracks influenced by everything from country to classical. The new tracks include participation from multiple GRAMMY Award winners as they collaborate with each DJ to re-imagine their genre in each DJ’s unique style.

Five of the world’s top DJs – Skrillex, Mark Ronson, DJ Premier, The Crystal Method and Pretty Lights – all participated in the project and their creative process was documented by Oscar®-nominated director Amir Bar-Lev. The resulting documentary highlights the creative tension and ultimately successful performance of five completely original new musical tracks.

Hyundai launched the film at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre during GRAMMY® Week, followed by an extended nationwide theatrical release and multiple screenings at SXSW and Coachella.

“There were more 32,000 entries this year at Cannes and this was the first year for the Branded Content and Entertainment Lions category,” said Dominic Sandifer, president, Greenlight Media & Marketing. “Only an innovative brand like Hyundai could unite these partners and artists in a truly authentic way and we’re proud to work with them.”

The Veloster is an innovative compact coupe that features ground-breaking design, with a unique third door for easy rear-seat access, Hyundai’s Blue Link® telematics system, Pandora® internet radio with seven-inch touch-screen display and a new 1.6-liter direct-injected four-cylinder engine that can be mated to either Hyundai’s first EcoShift™ dual-clutch transmission or a six-speed manual transmission.
